Each year the music festival incorporates a theme into the festival series to connect various dance and instrumental items together and to assist with the flow of the concert. The theme for the 2026 SSSMF is Family.
Please refer to the 2026 choir repertoire that may also assist schools in incorporating this year’s theme into the festival.
While the main aim of the music festival is to promote choral music, the combined choir program is complemented by items from the other sub-strands of the performing arts – instrumental music, dance and film. Soloists are also encouraged to nominate for solo instrumental or vocal items (not dance).
Item teachers are to submit an Initial Nomination FORM D and/or E online for each item by 16 March 2026 (Week 8 Term 1). Please refer to the item guidelines and the selection process document for full details.

File access within the Teacher Resources section is restricted to 2026 SSSMF festival teachers who must be logged in to their DoE portal/Google account.
